He carves the final engravings into the flute and puts the instrument to his lips, but his music left him long ago. With its lament, his melodies sound no longer like the sanguine voice that once sang tall. No longer do children and women come to listen by the side of his melancholic trade.
He's in no rush for the sun to rise over these pathways where poets wove the tales of maidens and warriors. For summer has gone and autumn trees shed their leaves like golden rain.
